The Lobby Lab is for patients with a Women’s College Hospital requisition/order who are seeking blood work/specimen collection.

FAQs

  • We currently oversee numerous laboratory tests/services to patients in care programs across the hospital. For patients with a Women’s College Hospital requisition/order, we offer blood work/specimen collection.
  • During our operating hours, we welcome sample drop-offs. To ensure your samples are accepted, please carefully follow the guidelines provided by our laboratory staff. Adhering to these instructions will help prevent sample rejection and ensure smooth processing.

No appointments necessary. Service is by walk-in only.

  • Please bring your Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) card. If you don’t have an OHIP card, please provide an alternative government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s license, passport, or health card from another province. Make sure that the identification you bring is current and government-issued with a photo.
  • Fasting may be required for certain tests. Please follow any instructions provided by your ordering provider.
  • For your comfort and convenience, please stay hydrated before your visit.

  • We strive to provide prompt service, but queue times can be unpredictable. To ensure a smooth experience, we advise you to plan for potential delays and allocate sufficient time for your visit. Our team is committed to attending to you as quickly as possible while maintaining the quality of our service.
  • While the actual blood work/specimen collection may take just a few minutes, your entire visit to Lobby Lab may last up to an hour or more due to varying wait times.

Lobby Lab does not accept external requisitions from clinics outside Women’s College Hospital.If you have any questions about your lab requisition or eligibility, please contact your ordering provider directly.

Requisitions must be signed by an authorized ordering provider within the last six months. If the requisition is older than six months, please contact your ordering provider to obtain a new, up-to-date requisition.

There are no costs associated with any of the services provided by Lobby Lab.

Test results may take 24 hours or more to become available, depending on the processing time of the referral laboratories. However, as soon as the results are ready, they are immediately uploaded to your electronic health records. Your healthcare provider can access these records, and you can also view them through your personal My Health Record portal.
