Meet John

June 7, 2024

June is Pride Month, an incredible opportunity for us to celebrate the rich diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community at Women’s and beyond. This month, we’re featuring members of our Pride Committee.

Name: John Di Tecco

Pronouns: he/him/his

Title & Department: Director, Events & Community Engagement, Women’s College Hospital Foundation

On the WCH team for: 2 years

1. Why did you decide to join the Pride Committee in such a meaningful capacity this year?

This is my second year on the committee, and last year was such a blast I had to come back and do it again! It culminated while marching in my first Pride Parade last year – with WCH. Being in community with 2SLGBTQ+ colleagues and allies, and interacting on a personal level with colleagues on the hospital side, all while supporting a cause I am passionate about enriches my day-to-day work experience in a way I am grateful for.

2. What work makes WCH an inclusive place for 2SLGBTQ+ Communities?

I can honestly say, WCH was the first workplace I have ever been part of where I felt from the outset I could show up as my true, authentic self, and that my voice was welcomed at the table. More than that, there is a diversity of representation within the Foundation and across the hospital that I have not experienced in any of my past workplaces.

3. What is your greatest wish for 2023 as it relates to Pride Month and healthcare?

That all communities and people have access to equitable healthcare while being treated authentically and with dignity.

4. Who is your 2SLGBTQ+ Pride role model? Why?

I have many. My role models are those that paved the way for me. But even more so now, it is the younger generation that are role models for me. To see many of them be able to live out and proud from such an early age is incredible to see and pushes me to live a little more unapologetically every day.
